My husband signed papers on a new truck and traded his old truck .The dealer is now telling him he has no loan?

Question by mon: My husband signed papers on a new truck and traded his old truck .The dealer is now telling him he has no loan?
So my husband is pretty mad at the dealership because they contact him 4 days later and tell him that he has not had a loan. So he just wants to get his old truck back and give them theirs back. But there not allowing it. So who owns the new truck and is it illegal to not return his old truck if he doesn't own the new one?
